How to use AI ImageGen—FAQs & top tips for creating amazing AI-generated images

However, when it comes to AI, you get out of it what you put in, meaning that coming up with the right prompt is crucial. 

If you want to learn how to use AI ImageGen to its fullest potential, here are some tried-and-tested tips for writing effective prompts that generate the best possible results. 

Firstly, ensure you describe the object, person, or subject—not the style. For example, we recommend searching for “Koala on a beach” rather than “Watercolor and Illustration image of a koala on a beach.”

Instead of going right in with a super specific idea, start with a broad prompt first. This will help you find the style you are looking for, and allow you to refine it using more detailed prompts. You can remove unnecessary words too, for example, instead of writing “Generate a photo of a city in a storm” you can simply write “City in a storm.”

Try a range of different prompts to test out the tool. The results provide an opportunity for finding inspiration as they will showcase a range of diverse styles. If you see a style you like, click “Use Style” to iterate further.    

ImageGen is not a chatbot. It doesn’t remember what you wrote last, therefore every prompt is a new request. This is because we speak to several different AI Image Generation models on the internet and they are not all keeping track of your previous request. We may be sending a new request to a new model that wasn’t used in your last request.

For example, this succession of prompts won’t work on AI ImageGen after conducting a search:

Mentioning 16:9 or hi-res has no impact on the generated images. Currently, all images are rendered at 1024×1024. Size editing features are coming soon.

Searches that are Not Safe For Work, including numbers or asking for text will likely not work. Keep your search to safe keywords for best results.

If you’re wondering how to generate AI images, it’s simple, start with simple prompts. Initially, use basic terms like “sunset,” “forest,” or “cat.” This approach helps you understand the range of styles and capabilities of the tool. Once familiar, you can start experimenting with more complex ideas, such as describing the subject in more detail e.g describe the scene, time of day, elements you want included or expressions. 

Our AI is capable of creating a wide range of artistic styles, from realistic portrayals to abstract interpretations. As you experiment with different prompts, you’ll discover various artistic renditions the AI can produce. E.g. you’ll witness illustrative, photo realistic, neon, explosive, poster, oil painting and more appear depending on your search. Once you find a style you like you can change the subject to create your vision. 

Once you know what you’re looking for, refine your prompt by adding more detail. Describe the scene, mood, objects, and any specific elements you wish to include. The more detailed your description, the closer the result will be to your vision. For example, instead of just “cat,” try “a fluffy white cat under a blooming cherry tree at sunrise.”

While our AI is versatile, it has limitations in understanding extremely complex or abstract concepts. It’s also programmed to adhere to ethical guidelines and avoid creating inappropriate or offensive content.

Absolutely! Include in your prompt any specific colors, lighting, or mood you desire. For instance, “a serene blue and purple landscape with soft moonlight” can guide the AI to your preferred color palette and atmosphere.

Practice and experimentation are key. Try varying your prompts, observe the outcomes, and adjust accordingly. Detailed and creative descriptions often yield the most striking images.

AI image generation can sometimes be unpredictable. If the result isn’t what you expected, try adjusting your prompt for clarity or adding/removing specific details. It’s often a process of trial and error to achieve the perfect result.
